EASTLAKE

Last year: 10-3

Coach: John McFadden, 1st year

Division: I

Key players: Joshua McCurty (LB-TE), Lavonte Webb (OL-DL), Vincent Santos (OL-DL), Kevin Bateman (WR-CB), AJ Hernandez (RB-DB), Roman Coe (RB-LB), Parker Merrifield (RB-LB), Darius De Los Reyes (RB-DB), Jack Hay (OL-DL), Rich Colmenero (QB).

Scouting report: McFadden is back and brings 127 career wins with him. Soph Colmenero will move right in at quarterback after having a quality spring and passing league. The Titans have two running backs — Coe and Merrifield — who rushed for 1,583 yards and scored 15 TDs last year. With seven starters returning on the offensive side of the ball, including jumbo linemen like Webb (6-3, 295), Santos (6-5, 305) and Jaime Jimenez (6-3, 275), Eastlake should be able to move the ball. On the defensive side, look for McCurty again to terrorize opponents after making 206 tackles (133 solo) with six sacks last year. The season opener against Torrey Pines at home should be a good one.
